Foster Stories from AGR Foster Parents (Volunteers)

Farrah, Farrah on the wall. Who’s the Farrah of them all?
Farrah is eating well and appears very healthy and energetic. Early on in her stay she learned to get outside
through the dog door but for some reason she was afraid to come back in. She has recently mastered re-entering the house through the dog door.

Farrah has a very pleasant temperament and enjoys being touched. She is very affectionate with children and has no problem being around other dogs. She has not been cat tested while in my care and I am not sure how she is with cats. Most of the time she follows Indigo, my greyhound, around. On the other hand  she will often rest alone in one of the bedrooms.

We’ve had no accidents inside and she stays off the furniture most of the time.  I have found evidence she lays on the sofa but have never caught her in the act. It seems she knows better - but like my son - she will ignore the some of the rules when I'm not around.

One pattern I have noticed is she seems to have a fear of men with dark hair and/or beards. I'm not 100 percent on this one but she will not approach men with dark hair and will usually leave the room.

She loves to go on walks and car rides. During the May play date we learned she likes to play in water. She dislikes loud noises and voices. She understands "no" and responds quickly.

Occasionally - and through the fence - both her an Indigo will exchange barking with the neighbor's dogs (she also has a greyhound). Having been in homes with other dogs and animals - I am not sure how she would behave if she were an "only hound".

I would probably avoid placing her in a home where she would be left alone for extended periods of time or one without another dog.
